ABOUT THE VCOG SERIES

The Trijicon VCOG® (Variable Combat Optical Gunsight) series was developed at the request of the U.S. Marine Corps, which needed a Squad Common Optic (SCO) capable of handling both close-quarter battle and long-distance marksmanship in a single scope. The commercial VCOG line offers this same nearly indestructible design to civilian and law enforcement shooters, available in 1-6x24 and 1-8x28 configurations.

Every VCOG uses a first focal plane reticle and a forged 7075-T6 aluminum housing, along with an integrated mounting solution that allows the scope to go straight onto a standard Picatinny rail without conventional scope rings. The series is intended for shooters who need a single optic that performs at both close range and out to extended distances, without switching between a red dot and a magnified scope.

ABOUT THE MODEL (TRIJICON VCOG 1-8x28 - MRAD, THUMBSCREW MOUNT)

The Trijicon VCOG 1-8x28 pairs an 8x zoom range with a 28mm objective lens, giving a brighter sight picture than the smaller 1-6x24 VCOG models. The added magnification and larger objective make this model suited to precise shots at longer ranges while still retaining the low-power, close-quarters usability the VCOG line is built around.

This configuration uses a red MRAD segmented circle / crosshair dot reticle, designed for multi-platform use across different calibers, bullet weights, and barrel lengths. Because the reticle sits in the first focal plane, its subtensions remain accurate at every magnification setting, so holdovers calculated at one zoom level stay correct at another. Adjustments are made in 0.1 MRAD clicks, with 120 MOA of total elevation and windage travel, and the toolless turrets give audible and tactile feedback on every click.

The scope mounts via a battle-tested integral thumbscrew mount, letting it go straight onto a Picatinny rail without separate rings. An integrated dial fin makes it easy to rotate quickly through the magnification range, and a near-constant eye relief of around 4 inches means the shooter's head and stock position do not need to be readjusted as magnification changes. The scope is powered by a single AA battery and is waterproof to 20 meters (66 feet).
