Shilba Gold Medal 3-12x56

• 56 mm objective lens: The large front lens gathers more light at dawn, dusk, and in shaded woodland, helping the image stay brighter when game is most active.
• 3-12x magnification range: Low power remains practical for shorter shots and scanning, while 12x gives the extra precision needed for careful placement at longer distances.
• 30 mm tube: The larger tube format supports a robust hunting riflescope layout and pairs well with the scope’s low-light design and full-size objective.
• Second focal plane illuminated IR4 reticle: The reticle stays visually consistent through the zoom range, making it easy to pick up quickly, while illumination helps the aiming point stand out against dark backgrounds.
• Multicoated lenses with nitrogen-filled waterproof and fogproof construction: Lens coatings support contrast and light transmission, and the sealed tube resists internal fogging and bad weather during real field use.

About the Shilba Gold Medal Series

Shilba Gold Medal is the brand’s high-end riflescope series, developed for hunters and shooters who want a more refined optic than an entry-level hunting scope without moving away from practical field use. The series was developed in collaboration with professionals, hunters, and marksmen, and that focus shows in a lineup built around proven hunting magnification ranges rather than overly specialized formats. Current Gold Medal models include 1-4x24, 1.5-6x42, 2.5-10x50, and 3-12x56, giving the series a clear spread from driven hunting and general stalking to low-light stand hunting.

A common thread across the range is the use of a 30 mm tube and a choice of illuminated IR4 and B.4A reticles, which keeps the series oriented toward practical target acquisition in changing light. Shilba positions Gold Medal for users seeking precision and durability in hunting and shooting, with a design philosophy centered on functional mechanics, dependable field handling, and optical configurations that make sense for real hunting conditions. Within the Shilba lineup, Gold Medal sits as a serious hunting riflescope family with an emphasis on brightness, straightforward controls, and robust everyday usability.

About the Shilba Gold Medal 3-12x56

The Shilba Gold Medal 3-12x56 is built around a format that makes particular sense for low-light hunting. Its 3-12x magnification range gives the scope enough flexibility for a broad spread of field situations: lower power remains useful when scanning edges, clearings, or woodland lanes, while the upper end provides the image scale needed for more deliberate shot placement at distance. The large 56 mm objective lens is the defining feature of this model, because it is aimed squarely at dawn and dusk use, where image brightness and target definition matter more than compact dimensions.

This model uses an IR4 illuminated reticle in the second focal plane. In practice, that means the reticle keeps the same apparent size as magnification changes, which many hunters prefer for a familiar sight picture and an aiming point that remains easy to see at both low and high power. The illuminated center helps the reticle stand out against dark fur, shadowed backgrounds, or the last usable minutes of legal light. A fixed parallax setup keeps operation simple and fast, while the fast-focus eyepiece helps the shooter bring the reticle into sharp focus quickly.

The scope’s capped turrets suit a hunting role well, protecting the adjustments from accidental movement while the rifle is carried in the field. Combined with a 30 mm tube, multicoated lenses, and a nitrogen-filled waterproof and fogproof housing, the Gold Medal 3-12x56 is configured as a full-size hunting riflescope for rifles used from blinds, high seats, and other situations where low-light performance takes priority over minimum weight.

About Shilba

Shilba traces its origins to an optical workshop near Osaka, Japan, in 1960, giving the brand a long connection to sporting optics. In 1981, the owner of the Japanese factory sold the Shilba brand, its expertise, and its contacts to the current owners, establishing the basis for the company’s later international growth. The brand’s catalog covers riflescopes, binoculars, monoculars, spotting scopes, and scope mounts and rings, showing a clear specialization in field and shooting optics rather than a single-product focus.

Shilba’s background in riflescopes is especially relevant here. In 1975, technicians from Argentina traveled to Japan to develop a riflescope for hare hunting, and the brand’s first two riflescope models were 4×32 and 4×40. That early emphasis on practical hunting optics still fits the role of the Gold Medal line today. Shilba later expanded its reach by exporting to neighboring Latin American countries in 2000 and began marketing its products in Spain in 2004, building a broader presence in the sporting optics market.
