Rudolph VH 3-16x42mm

• 3-16x magnification range: Covers the gap between close woodland shots and deliberate longer-range work, so the scope stays useful on a varmint rifle, a general hunting setup, or a precision-oriented field rifle.
• First focal plane illuminated T8 reticle: The reticle scales with magnification, keeping holdovers and ranging references consistent throughout the zoom range, while illumination helps the aiming point stand out against dark targets and shaded backgrounds.
• Tactical zero-stop turrets: The 0.10 MIL click system supports precise dialing, and the zero stop gives a fast, reliable return to the original zero after elevation changes in the field.
• Side focus from 10 yds to infinity: Parallax adjustment lets the image and reticle stay aligned across short and long distances, which is especially useful for small targets where aiming errors show up quickly.
• 42 mm objective in a 30 mm tube: This combination keeps the scope relatively compact and well-balanced while still providing the adjustment range and light-gathering needed for medium- to long-distance shooting.

About the Rudolph Optics VH Series

The Rudolph Optics VH series takes its name from Varmint Hunter and sits in the brand’s riflescope range as a line built for hunters who need more reach and finer aiming control than a basic general-purpose optic. Rudolph positions the series for medium- and long-distance hunting, with an emphasis on practical field use in both daytime and twilight conditions. That makes the VH family relevant not only for varmint and predator work, but also for hunters who want a flatter-shooting setup with enough magnification to place shots carefully at changing distances.

Across the line, the series includes several magnification classes, from 3-16x42mm up to larger 50 mm models, so users can choose between a more compact scope and configurations that favour higher top-end magnification. The range also splits into different reticle and turret layouts. Traditional T3 and T5 versions focus on straightforward hunting use with capped turrets and side focus, while the T8 first-focal-plane illuminated models add dialing-oriented controls and zero-stop functionality for shooters who prefer a more tactical approach. Fully multi-coated lenses and side-focus parallax adjustment are recurring traits in the series, giving the VH family a clear identity: practical hunting optics with enough precision features for deliberate shot placement at longer ranges.

About the Rudolph VH 3-16x42mm

The Rudolph VH 3-16x42mm is the more compact end of the VH family, combining a useful 3-16x magnification range with a 42 mm objective lens that keeps overall size and weight manageable. In practice, that makes it a strong fit for rifles carried over distance, where a lighter optic matters, but where the shooter still wants enough top-end magnification for small targets, load development, or careful shot placement across open ground. At 3x, the scope remains workable for closer encounters and scanning, while 16x gives a much more precise view for longer shots.

This model uses a first focal plane reticle with illumination, which is especially useful on a scope intended for mixed-distance work. Because the reticle stays proportional to the target image as magnification changes, holdover and ranging references remain valid throughout the zoom range instead of only at one setting. That is a practical advantage for shooters who alternate between dialing and holding, or who need to react quickly without resetting magnification to a calibrated point.

The mechanical layout also supports that style of shooting. Its tactical multi-turn turrets adjust in 0.10 MIL clicks, with 24 mrad of elevation and windage travel and a zero stop for fast return to baseline settings. Side-focus parallax adjustment from 10 yds to infinity helps keep the target image crisp and reduces aiming error at both short and long distances. A 30 mm tube, nitrogen filling, and waterproof, fogproof, shockproof construction round out a scope designed for regular field use rather than occasional range sessions.

About Rudolph Optics

Rudolph Optics is based in Stellenbosch, South Africa, where the company lists its head office. The brand focuses on sporting optics for hunting and shooting, with a catalogue that includes riflescopes, binoculars, rangefinders, red dot sights, and night-vision optics. Within its riflescope range, Rudolph organizes products into several series, including H1, H2, V1, VH, AR, T1, and OPS, which shows a product strategy aimed at different shooting styles rather than a single one-size-fits-all line.

In optical design, Rudolph states that its products use multilayer lens coatings, a relevant detail for users who need dependable contrast and light transmission in hunting conditions. The brand presents its optics as tools for hunting and competition shooting, which fits the mix of practical field scopes and more dialing-oriented models in the lineup. For riflescopes such as the VH series, that translates into a balance of usable magnification ranges, purpose-built reticles, and mechanical features that support both traditional hunting use and more precision-focused shooting.
