Recknagel Tip-Off Rings with Windage for 16.5 mm Dovetail, 40 mm

• Tip-off design: The mount lets the scope be removed and reattached quickly, which is useful for rifles that alternate between scoped and open-sight use or for transport and maintenance.
• Windage adjustment: Built-in lateral adjustment helps align the optic to the rifle more precisely, reducing the need to use excessive scope correction and preserving more internal adjustment for zeroing.
• Steel construction: A steel build gives the mount the rigidity and wear resistance needed for repeatable positioning and long service life on hunting and sporting rifles.
• 16.5 mm dovetail fit: This version is made for rifles with a 16.5 mm dovetail, giving a direct mechanical interface without adding unnecessary bulk.
• 0 MOA inclination: The neutral base keeps the optic in a straightforward, level mounting position that suits general-purpose hunting and sporting setups.

About the Recknagel Tip-off Mount Series

The Recknagel Tip-off Mount series is part of the company’s scope-mount range for hunting and sporting firearms, built around the practical need to remove an optic without turning the rifle into a permanent one-scope platform. In this family, Recknagel offers versions for scope tubes in 26, 30, 34, 36 and 40 mm, as well as variants for optics with integrated rail interfaces. That gives the series broad relevance across traditional hunting rifles and more specialized sporting setups.

Within the line, the emphasis is on matching the mount to the rifle and optic rather than forcing a one-pattern solution. The series includes classic ring versions and rail-interface options for 70-degree, 45-degree Zeiss internal, Swarovski SR, S&B Convex and Weaver/Picatinny profiles. This makes the Tip-off family especially useful where a rifle has a specific receiver geometry or where the shooter wants a removable mounting system that still feels mechanically precise. In practical terms, the series is aimed at users who value a clean rifle profile, secure optic support and the convenience of a mount that suits established European hunting-rifle formats.

About the Recknagel Tip-Off Rings with Windage for 16.5 mm Dovetail, 40 mm

The Recknagel Tip-Off Rings with Windage for 16.5 mm Dovetail, 40 mm is a fixed hunting-optics mount built for rifles that use a 16.5 mm dovetail interface and a 36 mm scope tube. Its tip-off layout is well suited to rifles where the optic may need to be removed for transport, servicing or a change in sighting setup, while still keeping the mounting system compact and mechanically straightforward. Because the mount is made from steel, it prioritizes rigidity and long-term durability over minimum weight, which is valuable on rifles that see regular field use.

A defining feature of this model is its windage-adjustable design. That lateral correction at the mount helps center the scope more naturally over the bore, which can make zeroing more efficient and helps preserve the riflescope’s internal adjustment range. In practice, that matters when working with rifles whose receiver or dovetail geometry benefits from fine alignment at the mounting stage rather than relying entirely on the optic’s turrets.

The mount uses a 0 MOA inclination, making it a sensible choice for general hunting and sporting distances where a neutral setup is preferred. Finished in black, it keeps a restrained appearance that suits traditional rifle builds. This model is also intended for compatibility with a wide range of rifles built around the relevant dovetail pattern, including selected Lynx, Sako and Tikka platforms, making it a specialized but versatile solution within the fixed-mount category.

About Recknagel

Recknagel is a German manufacturer focused on firearm and riflescope mounting systems, sights and hunting accessories. The company’s history began in 1867, when Adolf Recknagel started manufacturing firearm sights in Albrechts near Suhl, Thuringia. Over time, the range expanded to include scope mounts, Picatinny rails, triggers, safeties and other components for hunting and sporting firearms.

The company has remained closely associated with precision mounting solutions, which is especially relevant in categories such as fixed mounts and detachable scope mounts. Recknagel relocated from Schweinfurt to Bergrheinfeld in 2006, and in 2010 it introduced the ERATAC line for tactical mounts and accessories. The product range broadened again in 2016 with lightweight hunting silencers, and the company entered a new phase when Dr. Moritz Fehrer acquired Recknagel in 2022. Across these developments, Recknagel has kept its reputation centered on practical engineering for hunting and shooting applications.
