Meprolight Tru-Dot for AR-15 with 4 dots

• Self-Illuminated Tritium System: The Tru-Dot sight picture stays visible in low light and at night without batteries, so the rifle remains ready for defensive or duty use at any hour.
• 4-Dot AR Sight Layout: The four-dot configuration gives a clear reference on AR-platform rifles, helping the shooter pick up the sights quickly when speed matters at short to medium distances.
• Steel Construction: A steel body stands up to hard handling, recoil, and regular field use better than lighter-duty materials, making it a practical choice for a working rifle.
• Fixed Sight Design: With no adjustment controls to snag or shift unintentionally, the fixed setup favors simplicity, repeatability, and dependable use on a dedicated carbine.
• Always-On Operation: Because the illumination is built into the sight itself, there is no need to manage switches, brightness settings, or spare batteries during storage or carry.

About the Meprolight Tru-Dot Series

Meprolight Tru-Dot sights are built around a simple idea: provide an always-visible aiming reference that works in daylight, dim interiors, and nighttime conditions without relying on batteries. Within Meprolight’s catalog, the series covers fixed, adjustable, and suppressor-height variants, showing that the platform is intended for users who want the same basic sighting concept across different firearm types and applications. The family is designed as a replacement for standard sights on compatible firearms, with a focus on practical installation and familiar handling.

A defining characteristic of the Tru-Dot series is its use of tritium illumination, which keeps the sight picture consistent when ambient light drops. Selected models also use different tritium dot color combinations, allowing the sight picture to be tailored to the firearm and intended role. Across the range, the emphasis is on fast alignment, low-light usability, and a straightforward mechanical design rather than added complexity. That makes Tru-Dot sights relevant for defensive firearms, service weapons, and general-purpose carbines where reliability and immediate visibility matter more than electronics or adjustable brightness systems.

About the Meprolight Tru-Dot for AR-15 with 4 dots

The Meprolight Tru-Dot for AR-15 with 4 dots is a self-illuminated rifle night sight made for shooters who want a simple, durable iron-sight solution on an AR-platform rifle. Its main advantage is constant readiness: the tritium-powered sight picture remains visible in low light and darkness without batteries, controls, or activation steps. On a rifle kept for defensive use, patrol work, or general-purpose range use, that means the sight is immediately usable when lighting conditions change.

The 4-dot configuration is tailored to the AR format and gives this model its distinct sight picture. In practical use, that layout helps the eye establish alignment quickly, especially when the rifle is brought up in a hurry or used in mixed lighting. Because the sight is fixed, it avoids the extra bulk and moving parts associated with adjustable systems, which suits rifles that are expected to stay zeroed and ready rather than be frequently reconfigured. The result is a cleaner profile and a more straightforward manual of arms.

Its steel construction supports hard use and repeated handling, while the black finish keeps the appearance subdued and appropriate for tactical or duty-oriented rifles. As a maintenance-free tritium sight, it also removes the need to monitor battery condition or electronic settings. That makes it a sensible AR iron sight option for users who value dependable low-light visibility, mechanical simplicity, and a robust build over added complexity.
