Kaps Sun Shade 56mm

• 56 mm objective compatibility: Sized for riflescopes with a 56 mm front end, this sun shade helps keep direct sunlight off the objective lens so the sight picture stays clearer in bright conditions.
• Reduced scattered light: By limiting stray light before it reaches the lens, the shade helps preserve contrast and makes it easier to maintain a defined aiming image when the sun is low or off-axis.
• Works alone or with honeycomb grid: The design can be used by itself or together with the matching honeycomb grid, giving more flexibility for shooters who want extra reflection control in difficult light.
• Aluminium construction: The aluminium body keeps weight to 50.00 g, adding useful glare protection without making a tactical riflescope noticeably front-heavy.
• Made for Tactical-series scopes: Developed for Kaps Tactical riflescopes, it offers a straightforward accessory upgrade for hunting optics and tactical optics used in open, sunlit terrain.

About the Kaps Accesories Series

Kaps Accesories is the accessory range built around the company’s rifle-scope platform, with practical add-ons intended to improve field use rather than change the core handling of the optic. In this series, sun shades and honeycomb grids are offered as dedicated scope accessories, with variants marked 50 and 56 to match different objective sizes. The focus is simple and functional: reduce unwanted light effects at the front lens and support a cleaner sight picture in demanding outdoor conditions.

Within the range, Kaps describes the sun shade as a way to cut scattered light caused by sunlight, while the honeycomb grid is intended to reduce reflections from sunlight and rainwater on the lens. The two accessories are also designed to work together, so shooters can tailor the front end of the riflescope to the light and weather they expect. The series is aimed particularly at Kaps Tactical-series rifle scopes, where glare control, lens protection and a more consistent aiming image matter in both sporting and field shooting use.

About the Kaps Sun Shade 56mm

The Kaps Sun Shade 56mm is a riflescope accessory made to improve image usability in bright light by shielding the objective lens from direct sun. On tactical and hunting optics, stray light entering the front lens can lower perceived contrast and make the target image look less clean, especially when the sun sits at an angle to the shooting position. By extending the front of the scope, this model helps reduce that effect and supports a more stable view when aiming across open ground or from exposed positions.

This version is intended for 56 mm riflescope objectives and is specifically designed for Kaps Tactical-series scopes. That makes it a straightforward choice for shooters who want better glare control without changing the optic itself. Kaps also notes that the shade can be used on its own or together with the honeycomb grid, which is useful when conditions call for additional reflection management. In practice, that gives the shooter more flexibility between bright sunlight, mixed weather and changing backgrounds.

The body is made from aluminium and weighs 50.00 g, so it adds little bulk while remaining appropriate for regular field use. Finished in black and made in Germany, it suits riflescopes where maintaining a clear, distraction-free sight picture matters more than adding unnecessary complexity.

About Kaps

Karl Kaps GmbH & Co. KG was founded in 1946 and is based in Aßlar, Germany, near Wetzlar, a region closely associated with optical manufacturing. The company added riflescopes to its product range in 1955 and has since focused on optics for hunting and sport shooting. Its sporting optics portfolio includes riflescopes and binoculars, with riflescope families such as TLB, Classic Line and Tactical.

Kaps is known for developing and producing riflescopes in Germany, with models offered in both illuminated and non-illuminated reticle configurations. In its riflescope range, the company uses first focal plane reticles, a design often chosen where reticle scaling must remain consistent with magnification changes. That background makes Kaps a relevant name for shooters looking for traditionally built European optics and matching accessories designed around the company’s own scope platforms.
