HI VIZ LiteWave Front Sight, S&W 1911

• LiteWave fiber-optic design: the exposed diagonal-wave profile gathers ambient light efficiently, helping the front sight stand out faster in bright daylight and mixed lighting on the range or in the field.
• Interchangeable LitePipes: the removable fiber insert system lets the sight picture be refreshed or adapted to preference, which is useful for shooters who want a clear, high-visibility front reference without replacing the whole sight.
• All-steel construction: a steel sight body gives this front sight the rigidity and wear resistance needed for regular carry, repeated holstering, and long-term use on a working pistol.
• Fixed front sight format: the non-adjustable design keeps the setup simple and durable, making it well suited to practical shooting, training, and general-purpose handgun use.
• Green front sight emphasis: the bright green aiming point naturally draws the eye to the front blade, supporting quicker sight acquisition and cleaner alignment with the rear sight.

About the Hi Viz LITEWAVE Series

Hi Viz LITEWAVE is a fiber-optic sight family introduced in November 2014 and still current in the brand’s catalog. The series covers both handgun and rifle sight applications, with front and rear configurations available for a wide range of firearms. Its defining feature is the diagonal-wave exoskeleton, a protective outer structure that leaves more of the LitePipe exposed to ambient light. In practice, that means a brighter, easier-to-pick-up sight picture while still shielding the fiber from everyday knocks.

The series is built around interchangeable LitePipes, so users can change sight color or replace a worn pipe without replacing the entire sight body. That flexibility has made LITEWAVE a practical option for competition, recreational shooting, training, hunting, and general daytime or low-light use where a highly visible front sight matters. Across the range, the design stays holster-friendly and straightforward, focusing on fast visual acquisition rather than unnecessary complexity. For shooters who want a durable iron-sight upgrade with a brighter aiming reference, the LITEWAVE line sits as one of HiViz’s core handgun sight families.

About the HI VIZ LiteWave Front Sight, S&W 1911

The HI VIZ LiteWave Front Sight, S&W 1911 is a dedicated fiber-optic front sight for Smith & Wesson 1911-pattern pistols, built for shooters who want a more visible front aiming point than a plain black blade can provide. Its bright green sight insert helps the eye settle on the front sight quickly, which is especially useful for fast strings on the range, practical shooting drills, and field carry in daylight conditions. Because the front sight is the element the shooter should focus on, increasing its visibility can make alignment feel quicker and more natural.

This model uses the LiteWave exoskeleton design, which protects the fiber while exposing enough surface area to gather light effectively. That gives the sight a crisp, high-contrast appearance without relying on batteries or electronic illumination. The fixed sight layout also keeps the system simple and robust, with fewer parts to shift or loosen over time. Combined with its steel construction, that makes it a sensible choice for a working 1911 used for regular practice, recreational shooting, or as a practical carry pistol.

The sight’s 3-dot alignment style is intended to work within a familiar pistol sight picture, while the front fiber remains the dominant visual reference. At only 10.00 g, it adds virtually no noticeable weight to the slide, preserving the handling balance of the pistol while giving the shooter a clearer front sight under real use.

About HiViz

HiViz began in 1996 with a single shooting-related product and grew into a specialist maker of sights and accessories for handguns, shotguns, and rifles. Based in Laramie, Wyoming, United States, the company is known for practical sight systems that improve visibility without making firearms complicated to use. Its catalog includes fiber-optic sights, tritium sights, recoil pads, and related shooting accessories.

A key part of the brand’s identity is the use of LitePipes, removable and reusable fiber-optic elements that allow a sight picture to be maintained or changed without replacing the entire unit. HiViz has also developed product families such as LiteWave, with its exoskeleton and integral LitePipe locking system, as well as TriViz and CompSight lines. In handgun sights, the company has built a strong reputation for bright, durable iron-sight upgrades designed for practical range, field, and carry use.
