GRS Thumbhole, Howa 1500 SA HB

• Thumbhole ergonomics: The shaped thumbhole grip promotes a relaxed, repeatable hand position, helping the rifle settle more naturally for steadier field shots and more consistent trigger control at the range.
• Adjustable cheek piece: The built-in cheek piece adjustment makes it easier to align the eye behind the optic correctly, improving comfort and supporting a more consistent head position from shot to shot.
• Laminate construction: The laminate stock combines rigidity with weather-resistant stability, which helps maintain fit and handling across changing hunting conditions while giving the rifle a solid, planted feel.
• Glass-bedding design: With glass bedding, the stock is set up to support a stable action-to-stock interface, which is valuable for shooters who want dependable accuracy from a hunting or range rifle.
• Field-ready dimensions: At 1300.00 g and 740.00 mm overall length, this stock balances portability with enough substance to keep the rifle controllable in alpine hunting, stalking, woodland use, and driven hunt setups.

About the GRS Thumbhole Series

GRS Thumbhole is the company’s first thumbhole stock and sits within the brand’s laminate-stock range as a practical option for hunters and recreational shooters who want improved ergonomics without moving to a competition-style chassis. The series is intended for use both in the field and at the shooting range, combining classic stock lines with a more supportive grip shape that encourages a natural hand position.

Built from birch laminate with an oiled finish, the Thumbhole series focuses on stability, durability, and a traditional look that still incorporates modern fit adjustment. A key part of the design is GRS SpeedLock, which gives the stock family its quick-adjustment character and makes it easier to tailor rifle fit to clothing layers, shooting position, and optic height. The series is offered in several color options, including Brown, Green Mountain Camo, Nordic Wolf, Orange, and Black, and it is produced in multiple inlets for popular rifle platforms. In practical terms, the Thumbhole line is aimed at shooters who want a hunting stock with better fit and control than a basic factory stock, while keeping the familiar feel of a laminate rifle stock.

About the GRS Thumbhole, Howa 1500 SA HB

GRS Thumbhole, Howa 1500 SA HB is configured for the Howa 1500 short action heavy barrel platform and is built for shooters who want a more supportive stock for hunting use as well as regular range work. Its thumbhole layout gives the firing hand a more controlled, repeatable position than a conventional hunting stock, which is especially useful when shooting from improvised field rests, prone positions, or a bench. That ergonomic advantage matters in real use because it helps the rifle come back to the same shoulder and cheek position more naturally.

The stock uses laminate construction and a glass-bedding setup, combining structural stiffness with a bedding approach that supports a stable action fit. For a rifle such as the Howa 1500, that makes sense for shooters who want dependable zero retention and consistent accuracy potential. The adjustable cheek piece is one of the model’s most useful practical features, as it allows the rifle to be matched more closely to scope height and shooting posture. Better eye alignment behind the optic generally means faster sight acquisition and less strain during longer sessions.

With a 390.00 mm length of pull and 40.00 mm forend width, this stock is dimensioned to feel substantial without becoming overly bulky. The 1300.00 g weight helps keep the rifle manageable for stalking and woodland hunting while still offering enough mass for composed handling. Its stated applications, from alpine hunting to driven hunt use, reflect a stock designed to bridge practical field carry and deliberate shot placement.

About GRS

GRS traces its history to 2010 in Grodås, Hornindal, Norway, while the family business behind it began earlier in 1983 as Grodås Møbler AS, a furniture manufacturer. That background is relevant because it helps explain why GRS developed such a strong focus on stock shaping, fit, and laminated wood construction. The company began making laminate rifle stocks in 2011 and has since expanded into composite rifle stocks and aluminum chassis stocks.

Today, GRS Riflestocks AS is headquartered in Hornindal, Norway and specializes in rifle stocks for hunting and shooting. Its product families include Hunter Light, Sporter, Bifrost, Fenris, Warg, and Ragnarok, covering traditional hunting stocks through to more competition-oriented platforms. One of the company’s notable design elements is GRS SpeedLock, an adjustment system used across its rifle-stock range to make stock fit quicker and easier to tailor.
