Discovery Optics VT-R 3-9x40AC

• 3-9x variable magnification: covers the practical range from close woodland or rimfire work at 3x to more deliberate shot placement at 9x, so one riflescope can handle general hunting and informal target use.
• 40 mm objective lens: balances light intake with a trim overall profile, helping maintain a bright sight picture without making the rifle feel top-heavy.
• Second focal plane reticle with red and green illumination: keeps the reticle visually consistent through the zoom range and adds contrast against dark targets or shaded backgrounds.
• Fully multicoated optics: improves light transmission and reduces distracting reflections, which helps preserve contrast and target definition in mixed light.
• Compact 1-inch format: the 25.4 mm tube, 305.00 mm length and 347.00 g weight make this scope easy to mount on lighter sporting or rimfire rifles without adding unnecessary bulk.

About the Discovery Optics VT-R Series

The Discovery Optics VT-R series is positioned as an entry-level riflescope family built for shooters who want straightforward magnified optics for hunting, rimfire use and general target shooting. Discovery Optics expanded the line with several models in its 2021 announcement, ranging from compact fixed-power options to variable scopes from 3-9x40 up to 10-40x50, giving the series a broad role from basic field rifles to higher-magnification bench setups.

A consistent theme across the VT-R range is a practical mechanical layout built around a 1-inch tube diameter, keeping weight and mounting requirements familiar for traditional sporting rifles. The series is also associated with VCF fully multicoated optics and TES erector support, features aimed at maintaining usable image quality and dependable internal adjustment in an affordable format. Within the family, Discovery Optics offers multiple configurations such as AC, AOE, AOAC, SF and IRAC, so users can choose between simpler fixed-parallax models and versions with adjustable objective or side-focus systems. That makes the VT-R line a sensible fit for shooters who want a conventional riflescope layout with a choice of magnification and feature sets rather than a highly specialized tactical optic.

About the Discovery Optics VT-R 3-9x40AC

The Discovery Optics VT-R 3-9x40AC is a classic 3-9x40 riflescope intended for general-purpose use, especially on rimfire rifles and light sporting setups where moderate magnification, low weight and uncomplicated controls matter more than advanced long-range features. At 3x, it stays quick enough for shorter distances and moving through tighter terrain, while 9x gives enough image scale for more careful shot placement on small targets or for range practice. The 14.00 to 4.60 m/100m field of view supports that flexibility by giving a wider view at low power and a more concentrated sight picture as magnification increases.

The optical layout is built around a 40.00 mm objective lens with fully multicoated lenses, a combination that helps maintain a clear, usable image without making the scope overly large. Eye relief from 85.00 mm to 92.00 mm gives a comfortable shooting position across the zoom range, while the second focal plane reticle keeps its apparent size unchanged as magnification changes, which many shooters prefer for a familiar sight picture. The red and green illumination adds visibility when the target or background reduces reticle contrast.

Mechanically, this model stays simple and field-friendly. Capped turrets protect the adjustments from accidental movement during transport or hunting, and the 1/4 MOA click value allows precise zeroing without overcomplicating the setup. With no parallax adjustment, operation remains straightforward for users who want a conventional sighting system. Its 25.4 mm tube, 305.00 mm length and 347.00 g weight make it a practical match for compact rifles where balance and easy handling are important.
