Vortex Razor HD Gen. 2 series is the second generation of the Razor HD rifle scopes. These rifle scopes are the most advanced and the best rifle scopes series from Vortex. The Razor HD Gen. 2 series features the best technologies that Vortex is capable of, and the result is one of the most feature-rich and durable rifle scopes on the market.
The second generation of the Razor HD family has even more features than the first generation and a completely different design than their predecessors. The main tube diameter on the Razor HD Gen. 2 is now 34 millimeters on the bigger magnification rifle scopes, and 30 millimeters on the wide-angle model.
The new turrets are named L-Tec turrets, which are exposed tactical and lockable at any position. The locking function can be engaged by pushing the turret down, and disengaged by pulling the turret up. In one revolution with the bigger magnification rifle scopes, the turret travels for 10 MIL or 25 MOA, on the wide-angle model, on the other hand, the turret travels for 50 MOA. The wide-angle model has different turrets, that are very low-profile for mounting additional accessories.
The new L-Tec turrets feature also a very nice turn indicator, which pops out on the left side under the elevation turret. Because the elevation turret has a multi-turn design, the indicator pops out more after every full revolution, a total of 3 times. All rifle scopes from this series have a really big elevation and windage adjustment range for shooting on extreme distances.
Zeroing the L-Tec turrets is very easy, and can be done even more precise than 0.1 MIL or ¼ MOA thanks to the internals of the turrets, that spin freely without clicks when zeroing the rifle scope. On the left side on the bigger two models is the parallax turret and the illumination control unit. On the bigger two models, the parallax is adjustable from 23 meters / 25 yards to infinity or from 29 meters / 32 yards to infinity.
The reticle in the bigger two Vortex Razor HD Gen.2 rifle scopes is located in the first focal plane, so the reticle changes simultaneously when changing the magnification. On the wide-angle model, the reticle is placed in the second focal plane, so it has the same dimensions on the entire magnification range. All reticles have a reticle illumination in red color. The illumination control is built inside the parallax wheel and has to be pulled out to change the illumination. The illumination can be also locked on any position, the user just has to push the ring inside. On the wide-angle model, the parallax is fixed at 100 yards / 91 meters, but the illumination control is on the same place like on the bigger two models. Also on the wide-angle model the illumination can be locked in place on any brightness setting.
All Vortex Razor HD Gen.2 rifle scopes feature a new APO (Apochromatic objective lens system) system to correct the color across the entire visual spectrum. The glass used inside these rifle scopes is Premium HD (High Density) extra-low dispersion glass, which provides the user with great resolution and color fidelity. All lenses are also fully multi-coated with the special XR™ coating to increase the light transmission and get a brighter picture in low light situations. The outer lenses are additionally coated with the ArmorTek coating to increase the durability of the lenses against scratches, oil, and dirt.
The entire housing is made from a single-piece aircraft-grade aluminum, to withstand even the harshest abuse in every environment. The housing is also filled with argon gas to prevent internal fogging at cold weather and is hard-anodized with a dark matte brown finish. All parts on these rifle scopes are made from metal, so no rubber can go off after a long time in use.
All Vortex Razor HD rifle scopes are totally shockproof for even the strongest calibers like the .50 BMG, and are covered with the Vortex VIP Unconditional Lifetime Warranty.
The Vortex Razor HD Gen. 2 rifle scopes can only be mounted with 34 mm rings or 30 mm rings (Vortex Razor HD Gen. 2 1-6x24).
