Leupold VX-R rifle scopes are variable magnification scopes that come for an affordable price, but they have some unique features that mostly feature only more expensive rifle scopes. One of these features is definitely the illumination, because all Leupold VX-R rifle scopes have an illumination made with fiber optic, what ensures a very bright, even day-time usable illumination that doesn't shine like a star. The illuminated dot is nicely rounded on any brightness setting, and the illumination control is easily reachable. The brightness can be changed with a push on only one button. These rifle scopes have also a motion sensor, that deactivates the illumination after 5 minutes if it doesn't detect any movement. As soon it detects movement, it instantly turns the illumination back on.

All rifle scopes from this series have a 30 mm main tube made from a single piece 6061-T6 Aircraft grade aluminum to withstand all hunting scenarios. The erector is held in place by the ˝Twin Bias Spring Erector System˝ which can withstand even the strongest recoiling calibers. All rifle scopes are totally water-proof and shock-proof, filled with Argon to be also fog-proof at low temperatures.

Because of the 3 times zoom factor and fully multi-coated lenses, the light transmission rate is very high through the entire magnification range. The turrets are low-profile and are capped, so you can't accidentally move your turret. The reticle is placed in thefixed at 100 yards (91 meters).
