Scope mounts for Roessler Titan 16

About the company

The company founder Erich Roessler started his gunsmithing career in Austria at only 15 years of age and was later promoted to department head of weapons assembly, the job he held until 1996, when he founded his own rifle manufacturing company Roessler Waffen Austria. It could be said it became a family-run company after Erich's son joined his father to help him with manufacturing and processing of mechanical weapon components and the joint effort paid off, as the production and sales of their products kept growing. At the end of the 1990s they began working on the development of Titan 6, which was based on an idea of high-quality bolt action hunting rifle, which could be more affordable compared to the other rifles because of high in-house production knowledge of the founder.

Titan 6 was introduced to the market at the start of 2002 and immediately impressed the public and also other rifle producing companies with the quality and precision of the rifle, even more if you take the price into consideration and thus the rifle spread throughout the Europe like a wildfire in the next couple of years. The incoming orders grew so much, that the company had to expand to Kufstein and so did expand their sales of the rifles throughout the whole world. In 2012 the company presented a new model, Titan 16, which had the same characteristics of high quality and affordable price, with a different focus, as this one was more focused on the driven hunt.

About the rifle

Roessler Titan 16 is a straight pull bolt action with 16 locking lugs locked directly into the barrel. These locking lugs ensure even better safety due to the large contact surface. Roessler bought the patent and the rights to Mauser M1996, therefore Titan 16 and M1996 are very similar, resulting in the same amount of locking lugs between the rifles and Titan 16 also being straight pull action.

Which rifles have interchangeable mounts

As said before, Roessler Titan 16 is very similar to Mauser M1996 and it even has the same mounting surface, so the mounts for Titan 16 will also fit M1996 (with serial number higher than 12000) and later model M97 as well. Therefore, mounts meant for aforementioned Mauser M1996 and M97 will also fit Roessler Titan 16.

Other rifles with very similar mounting surface to Roessler Titan 16 are Remington 700 LA along with Mauser M94 and M1996 (with serial number lower than 12000). The only difference is the BHU (difference in height between the front and rear mounting surface). Remington 700 LA has BHU of 2,9 mm, while Mauser M94 and aforementioned M1996 have BHU of 2,8 mm, compared to 2 mm BHU of Roessler Titan 16, meaning the Titan 16 mounts could potentially be installed on these rifles. Almost a millimeter of difference in BHU would, however, make the mounts inclined, so we strongly advise against doing so, because the accuracy of the shots would suffer too much.

Our recommendation for mounts

Fixed mounts:

We would recommend to first install Picatinny rail and then choose between fixed mounts suitable for Picatinny rail.

Detachable repeatable mounts:

This Recknagel mount would be a good fit for Titan 16.

Picatinny rails:

We would recommend EAW Picatinny rail, as it is affordable and made of steel and therefore matches the material of the receiver which is ideal from mechanical perspective. Read more about that in our article:

Help us build our riflescope mounts database

If you have this rifle or any other rifle at home, we would really appreciate it if you could send us some photos of the rifle receiver (mounting surface of the rifle when there are no mounts installed), because it would help us expand our rifle mounts database. If you send us a photo of rifle receiver which we don’t already have, that would be of great value to us and we will definitely reward you for your help.
