Description of Nikon Action EX Binoculars

The Action Extreme series by Nikon offers binoculars for wide varieties of use, from hunting, birdwatching to astronomy and marine applications. They offer extreme durability and great optical performance. Porro prism system helps with better light transmission together with multi-coated system. They are well protected with O-ring seals and filled with nitrogen gas to prevent internal condensation. They are also equipped with rubber armouring and eyecups and provided with central focusing mechanism for quick adjustments. The 7x35 model prides itself with the widest field of view (163m) and 16x50 model offers incredible power for long distance scanning of larger areas or sky-gazing.

Basic features

Action EX models are all enclosed in rubber armouring that is hard and thick to protect these binoculars against impacts. The waterproof construction is the result of tight O-seals and hard aluminum body that makes the construction extremely durable and corrosion-free. The construction is also purged with Nitrogen gas to prevent the formation of condensation and molding. They are able to withstand the pressure in the water for 5 minutes if submerged or in case of accidental fall. This makes Action EX models incredibly well protected even in the most severe environments. The binoculars are equipped with tripod adaptable screw, very convenient for models with bigger magnifications that usually make less steady images.

Optical properties

Nikon Action EX series offers incredibly bright images thanks to Porro prism system, which combined BaK-4 prisms offer great light transmission and sharp, crisp image. The lenses have multi-layers of high-quality coatings applied on the surfaces to help with better transmittance. They also have an anti-reflective ability, to eliminate glaring, internal reflections and chromatic aberration that distracts the perfect resolution and colors. For focusing, the Action EX series uses central focusing mechanism. The long focusing throw offers fine-tune although this means the mechanism is less quick, but the smooth turn of the wheel helps with comfortable adjustments. The knob is integrated into the hinge and is rugged to prevent sudden slipping. To eliminate differences between both eyes, there is diopter set below the right-eye eyecup. The eyecups are multi-positioned with click-stops that allow you to set perfect distance for your eyes from the ocular lenses which helps to eliminate vignetting that can compromise the clear viewing.

Accessories

The Action EX comes in a padded case for storage and protection and neckstrap for carrying. There are also objective lens covers and rainguards for additional protection of the lenses.

Warranty Terms and Conditions

Nikon offers 10 years of warranty for Action EX series with Ten-Year-Limited Warranty Card. For the first 5 years the repair or replacement are fully covered, and in the further five years only replacement materials are covered, the cost for repair work is however charged. The warranty claim is non-transferable and the proof of purchase must be presented. Nikon warranty doesn’t cover damages due to mishandling, misuse, neglect or accidental damage. Wear items such as lens covers, straps and cases are not covered.
