Nightforce ATACR (Advanced TACtical Riflescope) rifle scopes are the premium level tactical rifle scopes produced by the company Nightforce. These rifle scopes are used all over the world by police, military and law enforcement under harsh conditions. Nightforce gained their reputation because of the rugged and reliable construction, and because the repeatability on all scopes is as high as possible. Currently, these scopes feature almost anything you could need in a rifle scope for shooting on close, medium or even long range.
In the ATACR series of rifle scopes, you can choose between 4 different magnification ranges and objective lens diameters like 4-16x42, 4-16x50, 5-25x56 and 7-35x56. All scopes in this series feature ED – Extra-low dispersion glass for more light transmission, better contrast, and edge to edge clarity. The lenses are fully multi-coated to even increase all these properties. The reticle in these rifle scopes is set in the second focal plane, so the reticle has the same dimensions on all magnifications, or, if the name contains the letters ˝F1˝, the reticle is set in the first focal plane. This means, the reticle simultaneously changes the dimensions when changing the magnification. This is mostly used when shooting on different distances, so you can easily make corrections with the reticle. Also for measuring distances, the FFP reticle is very useful. The benefit of the second focal plane reticle is the thickness, because also on the biggest magnification the reticle doesn't cover a lot of the target.
All Nightforce ATACR rifle scopes can be equipped with MOA or MIL based reticles and turrets, and they are always matched. This means these scopes are true MOA/MOA or MIL/MIL rifle scopes. All reticles are illuminated with the Nightforce ˝Digilum˝ illumination, which brightness can be adjusted by only pushing a button located on the outer side of the parallax turret. This turret is on the left side of the scope (when looking from the eyepiece) so it is easily reachable. The brightness can be adjusted in 5 intensity levels, all for night time use. When holding the button for 5 seconds, the illumination changes from red to green, for a more relaxing view in dusk or dawn. The parallax can be adjusted from 40m to infinity, and on the turret are markings for different distances. The biggest magnification model, the ATACR 7-35x56 F1, has a parallax adjustment range from 10meters / 9 yards to infinity.
The windage turret on all models is capped, but under the cap, there is a normal exposed tactical turret for quick windage adjustment. In the box there is even a protection ring, that can be screwed on the thread if you don't want to use the scope with capped windage turret. The elevation turret is exposed tactical, which clicks are very audible, and all scopes have a Zero Stop function so you can't dial under the zero.
The main tube is made from a single piece aircraft-grade aluminum to withstand any abuse, and the main tube diameter is 34 mm big, so you get enough elevation adjustment for shooting on longer ranges. This tough housing is made also for mounting the scope on even the strongest recoiling calibers like the .50 BMG, and the entire housing is filled with dry nitrogen to prevent internal fogging at low temperatures. All scopes are entirely waterproof even if you remove the windage cap or you submerge the scope accidentally under water.
The fast-focus eyepiece is lockable with a counter ring, which is located on the outside of the magnification adjustment piece. When you lock your diopter setting, you can adjust the magnification by turning the entire eyepiece. The magnification changes from minimal to maximal in just 180-degree turn. In the box, you also get a small throw lever for even easier adjustment of the magnification, and all scopes come with high-quality Tenebraex flip covers. The warranty on these scopes is 30 years long, what's really a lot for tactical rifle scopes.
The Nightforce ATACR rifle scopes can only be mounted with 34 mm rings.
