Meopta company was founded in 1933 in Prerov, Czech Republic by Alois Mazurek and Alois Beneš. Under the first name Optikotechna they produced lenses and condensers, binoculars, riflescopes, slide projectors and Flexaret range of cameras. During WWII the company manufactured exclusively optical devices for military and after the war renamed company Meopta and became the only cinema projector manufacturer in Central/ EastEurope till 1970s. In 1980s Meopta return with production for military needs.
