Leica Geovid 8x42 R Details

Description of Leica Geovid R 8x42mm binoculars

The Leica Geovid R 8x42mm is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a tight, compact package, combining premium optics with top of the line laser rangefinder technology. A member of Leica’s new and improved Geovid R line, the Leica Geovid R 8x42mm leaves little to be desired and is one of the best purchases one can make, considering value for money. Revisions to the Geovid R line have, along with the standard, highly capable laser rangefinder with a maximum range of 1300m, seen an introduction of a ballistic calculator. This highly refined system takes incline into account with a special EHR function, and, along a selection of 12 different ballistic curves for different calibres and loads, delivers unmatched accuracy for long range shots. Data, displayed on an internal LED display with automatic brightness adjustment, tells the user the range and the necessary compensation in either centimetres of drop, clicks in MOA or mrad or, if using a Leica riflescope, outfitted with the ASV ballistic turret, the position of the turret. The laser is also invisible and eye friendly and as such, does not irritate the user and the system can be used in either singe measurement or scan mode.

Optically, the Leica Geovid R 8x42mm doesn’t fall short of amazing. Utilising state of the art technology and materials, such as High Definition (HD) fluorite glass and Leica’s special HDC multicoatings, these binoculars deliver a crisp, razor sharp image with edge-to-edge clarity, high contrast and vivid colours, free from fringing. The magnification hits the sweet spot at 8x and is, with its broad field of view, just about perfect for any scenario possible, while the high light transmission rate and ample, 42mm front objective lenses, ensure the binoculars perform flawlessly even when light starts to fade. Toughness and robustness of the Leica Geovid R 8x42mm is taken care of with the use of a high strength, die-cast aluminium frame, encased in rubber. This also gives a classic shape and excellent weight distribution, making these binoculars extremely comfortable to handle.

Further, the entire system is completely sealed and can be submersed down to 5m underwater without causing any damage. Filled with dry nitrogen and, with superior quality internals of the central focusing mechanism and electronics, these binoculars won’t fail even in temperatures as low as -25°C. To ensure flawless operation even in the roughest of weather, Leica has applied special, AquaDura coatings to the exterior lens surfaces. These coatings repel water and other particles, such as dirt and snow, and insure a clear image and ease cleaning. The Leica Geovid R 8x42mm also feature a generous eye box and adjustable eye cups, making them very friendly to any kind of user. These binoculars feature Leica’s unconditional 5 year warranty.
