Vixen Ascot 8x42 CFW Details

Of all the models within the Vixen Ascot range, this 8x42 model is probably the most versatile.

The extremely wide field of view and relatively low power is great for viewing entire star clusters and constellations and is particularly important for the wildlife observer and birder in particular as a wide view assists you by making it easier to locate and follow fast moving birds, especially at closer ranges.

The fairly large 42 mm objectives in combination with a moderate 8x magnification produce a fairly large 5.3 mm exit pupil. This along with their quality coatings and optical glass help deliver a good low light performance for use in thick forests, at sunset and even stargazing at night.

The 18mm of eye relief is great news for eyeglass wearers as this should be enough to enable you to achieve the full field of view after twisting down the eyecups.

The one area where these binoculars don’t excel is at very close observational distances. With a comparatively long minimum focus distance of 7 meters, these are not the ideal choice for the study of things like insects and butterflies.
