The History of Nesika

Nesika is an American company based in Sturgis, S.D. which manufactures rifle actions and rifles. The company's beginning goes back to the 1980s when Glenn Harrison, with Jim Borden's help, aimed to create the finest single-shot action for competitive benchrest shooting using advanced CNC and EDM technology. Although there's limited information about the company's history and its primary business was through catalogues, elite competitive shooting teams worldwide, including the Army Marksmanship Unit and various civilian competitors, have acknowledged Nesika's actions over the years as one of the most reliable and well-built for the competition standards. This results from the company combining precision engineering with traditional craftsmanship, delivering actions renowned for their extreme accuracy and fine machining tolerances.

Nesika uses stainless steel for their receivers and makes bolts and bolt handles from a 4340 Chrom-Moly. They offer four action models, each with various options such as right or left bolt and port, different ejector types, action types, and bolt designs. Their barrels are also machined from aircraft-grade stainless steel.

Beyond actions, Nesika's product line includes custom rifles like the Custom Hunter, Custom Varmint, Custom Tactical, Sporter, Long Range, and Tactical models. Dakota Arms purchased Nesika in 2003 and was later acquired by the Freedom Group in 2009. However, as of 2023, the Nesika company's website is non-functional, with reasons largely unexplained online.

Nesika V Sporter Rifle Review

Nesika V Sporter is a high-precision bolt action rifle built on their classic-styled action with a flat bottom receiver. It is available in various bolt face diameters and comes in right-hand or left-hand configurations, either as a single shot or repeater. Bolts are designed with two strong locking lugs that lock up safely with the action's housing and the bolt's handle is machined integrally with the body of the bolt itself.

The weight of the Sporter model varies depending on the cartridge caliber it is chambered for, as this affects the receiver's diameter and length. The upper side of the receiver comes drilled and tapped which allows for scope mounting. Structurally, many other parts like the magazine with the spring and follower are based on the Remington 700 design, although they are not fully interchangeable.

The V Sporter features a Timney trigger which can be fully adjusted for the weight of the pull. Like most Nesika actions, the two-position safety comes in the form of a lever that is positioned on the right side of the tang. The ejector uses a spring-loaded plunger design, and the bolt face features a deep counter-bore to enclose the head of a chambered cartridge. Nesika V Sporter models came with a rubber recoil pad at the end of the stock but were usually supplied without preinstalled iron sights.

.300 Win. Mag.

The receivers of the Nesika V Sporter rifles come with four drilled and tapped holes which can be used for scope mounting purposes. There are two holes on the front and two on the rear mounting surface.

To meet interchangeability conditions, two-piece mounts must match in all dimensions except the B distance. B distance can vary because two-piece mounts can be installed and adjusted closer or further apart.
