Henry H010

The History of Henry

Henry Repeating Arms, an American firearms company, was founded in 1996 by Louis & Anthony Imperato. The company's name pays tribute to Benjamin Tyler Henry, the inventor of the first repeating lever-action rifle. Their initial product was the Henry model H001, a lever-action rifle chambered for a .22 rimfire cartridge which set the tone for Henry's focus on lever-action rifles, a tradition they would continue to build upon.

Over the years, Henry expanded its portfolio, selling more than 1 million of the H001 models and introducing a variety of other firearms. This includes the renowned Henry Golden Boy, the Big Boy and Long Ranger series for hunting and defense, the US Survival AR-7, Mini Bolt, tribute and Boy Scout editions, single-shot rifles, and shotguns in various calibers, as well as the Side-Gate lever-action rifle.

Today, in 2023, Henry Repeating Arms employs over 600 people and manufactures more than 300,000 rifles per year. With factories located in Bayonne, New Jersey, and Ladysmith, Wisconsin, the company continues to focus primarily on producing lever-action rifles in both centerfire and rimfire cartridges along with many additional firearm options. Anthony Imperato serves as the CEO and Founder, guiding the company from its headquarters in Rice Lake, Wisconsin.

Henry H010 Rifle Review

Henry introduced numerous lever action models over the years. The ones in the H series are marked with different numbers which correspond to the caliber they are chambered for. The H010 is chambered for .45-70 Gov. caliber. Structurally, the versions within the family do not differ much.

The rifle is available either in steel action with a blued finish or in brass action with polished finish. Moreover, the brass models come with 493 mm (19.4-inch) long octagonal barrel whereas the steel models are equipped with a 467 mm (18.4-inch) rounded barrel. There is a loading port on the right side of the action for loading cartridges into a 5-round tube magazine. Until 2019, all Henry lever actions utilized tube magazines, making Henry one of the last manufacturers to retain this feature.

Instead of the top of the receiver, the H010 ejects cartridges from the side. Four holes in the upper receiver can be used to mount optics thanks to this design. Moreover, some All-Weather variants come with a long Picatinny rail already preinstalled on top of the receiver. A Transfer Bar Safety Mechanism is a patented feature of the H010. The gun won't fire if the hammer is fully cocked and is unintentionally moved by something other than pulling the trigger. The weapon will also not discharge if the hammer is unintentionally released before it is fully cocked.

Henry H010 has a front brass bead sight and a rear semi-buckhorn sight that can be adjusted for elevation and windage. The stock already has rubber recoil pad and sling swivel studs attached.
