Primary Arms is an American company that is constantly gaining in popularity for two major reasons – offering products of high quality at an affordable price and implementing their own, custom reticles in their optical devices. One of the most popular reticles is ACSS with holdovers for bullet drop, designed for CQB.
In 2019, Primary Arms decided to divide their optics in four tiers, Classic (CLx), Silver (SLx), Gold (GLx), and Platinum (PLx). They chose to do this because their customers had difficulties determining which riflescope belongs to which price class. Primary Arms’ products are now much more organized, which makes work easier for both customers and retailers.
Platinum is Primary Arms’ top quality series of optics, made of best materials they have at disposal.
Riflescopes in this series are of the FFP type and there are two different models available, PLX8 1-8x24 FFP and PLX5 6-30x56 FFP.
The price for the models in this series is around 1700 €. They are manufactured in Japan and backed by Primary Arms’ lifetime warranty (10 years).
Riflescopes in this series can be purchased with Primary Arms’ famous ACSS reticle.
Primary Arms PLX5 6-30X56 FFP is a precision rifle scope from the Platinum series. The Platinum series features tactile long-range riflescopes that can be used in a tactical shooting competition. It allows shooters to shoot as far as the 1,000-yard line. The series features tactile audible clicks adjustments on the turrets. It offers 5x zoom with 6x minimal magnification. The 30x maximal magnification together with FFP reticle is a great combination for tactical long-range shooting. Some of the reticles make range estimation possible.
It has an aluminum black matte one-piece housing that is shockproof. The alloy used is anodized aluminum 6061. The main tube diameter is 34 mm, and the user cannot choose a rail mounting option. The tube is of the best materials and nicely made. The riflescope waterproof and nitrogen purged to prevent dew accumulation in the interior at low temperatures.
This is a first focal plane riflescope (FFP), meaning that the reticle size changes with magnification because the reticle is in the front of magnification lenses. The reticle is illuminated and has 11 intensity levels. There is an off switch between each illumination level. The battery used is CR2032.
There are 4 different reticles to choose from:
The riflescope features exposed tactical turrets with a Zero-lock mechanism. The parallax can be set anywhere between 35 yards and infinity. The riflescopes with MIL markings on the reticle have repeatable 0.1 MIL click adjustments and a true MIL/MIL configuration. The ones with MOA markings have ¼ MOA click adjustment and a true MOA/MOA configuration.
The riflescope comes with high quality objective and eyepiece flip-up caps and a sunshade. The covers are made of plastic and can be removed.
The product comes with 10 years of warranty. You can read more about the warranty policy here.
