Today we\u2019ll continue with our focus on Holosun products, specifically on the ShakeAwake\u2122 function that can be found in many of their red dot sight models. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The ShakeAwake\u2122 function by the Chinese manufacturer Holosun is an upgrade of <\/span><b>the automatic turn-off <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of reticle illumination, in this case, a red dot illumination. The standard automatic turn-off in practice means that if the device is stationary for some time, the mechanism inside will automatically turn off the red dot. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>The ShakeAwake\u2122 function i<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">s an advancement of the technology described above in a sense that it only goes from \u2018active\u2019 to \u2018sleep\u2019 mode. The latter is initiated after <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the device has not detected any type of movement or vibration in a specific amount of time. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once moved, the device will immediately <\/span><b>return to \u2018active\u2019 mode<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>recall the last brightness setting used<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. This great feature helps promote battery life further and ensures the unit is on and ready when the user needs it. The promised battery life of 50.000 hours is already impressive enough, but added insurance cannot hurt. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Holosun Tube models<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> allow the user to configure how the ShakeAwake<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2122<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> function will work. More specifically, the period of time before the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ShakeAwake\u2122 function is triggered <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">can be programmed by the user. With a push on the \u2796 button, they can pick between 10 minutes, 3 hours or 12 hours of time span before the \u2018sleep\u2019 mode is activated. If preferred, the <\/span><b>ShakeAwake<\/b><b>\u2122<\/b><b> function itself can be turned off <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and the standard automatic turn-off function will take over.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here, at Optics Trade,<\/span><b> we tested a few models<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from different series since Holosun does not state precisely how many minutes it will take for the initiation of the ShakeAwake\u2122 function. The results were not conclusive but the transition from the \u2018sleep\u2019 mode back to \u2018active\u2019 was definitely smooth and seamless. To be fair, with the battery life expectancy as it is, it doesn\u2019t make that much difference whether the red dot makes the switch after one hour or two. The main thing is that it does that in the first place.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Note that the <\/span><b>models with the solar panel<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (indicated by the letter \u2018C\u2019 in their name) do not have this feature. However, the company\u2019s sales catalog isn\u2019t exactly straight-forward as far as individual model features are concerned. Some pages state that the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ShakeAwake\u2122 function is also available in these models while others actively claim otherwise. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Still, based on our experiences with the brand, most Holosun models do offer this neat function. As we said, due to extreme battery longevity the ShakeAwake\u2122 function isn\u2019t of paramount importance but it shows <\/span><b>the innovative aspirations <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of this young brand.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thank you for your attention.
