{"id":5661057,"date":"2019-12-09T12:42:46","date_gmt":"2019-12-09T11:42:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.optics-trade.eu\/?p=5661057"},"modified":"2020-04-15T14:15:32","modified_gmt":"2020-04-15T12:15:32","slug":"slew-speed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.optics-trade.eu\/blog\/slew-speed\/","title":{"rendered":"Slew speed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Moving the telescope from point A to point B in the sky with the use of a <strong>motor<\/strong> <strong>drive<\/strong> is specified as <strong>slewing<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fast<\/strong> slewing <strong>speed<\/strong> is used for:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">finding a <strong>general<\/strong> area in the night sky or <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">for slewing between two celestial objects that are very <strong>far<\/strong> <strong>apart<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To precisely center the chosen object into a <strong>finderscope<\/strong>, a slow slew speed is required. For finer centering in telescope&#8217;s eyepiece, an even slower rate is recommended.<\/p>\n<p>To manually slew the telescope to specific celestial coordinates, <strong>hand control<\/strong> needs to be used. Slewing controls are very easy to use.
