What is Ruger’s “Power Bedding”?

Ruger's innovative Power Bedding™ system was designed to increase the accuracy and stability of Ruger firearms. It features stainless-steel bedding blocks that are insert-molded directly into the rifle's stock. The purpose of these blocks is twofold: they ensure the receiver is correctly positioned and enable the barrel to float freely.

Traditional rifles often utilize a recoil lug. However, Ruger's Power Bedding® system secures the barreled action of the rifle using two V-shaped steel action blocks. These blocks firmly wedge the receiver in place, eliminating any unwanted lateral movement, effectively serving as recoil lugs.

With the front and back action screws fastened directly through the centers of these action blocks, they also effectively act as pillar beddings. This design allows the barrel to be free-floated, enhancing the overall accuracy of the rifle.

Since any interaction inside the rifle that uses Power Bedding is steel-on-steel-on-steel, such a rifle is far less likely to sustain any damage to the stock, whether it's made of plastic or wood.
