In the year 2018, Vortex introduced a new series of Viper spotting scopes, labeled Viper HD. They are available in 15-45x65 and 20-60x85 configurations, both with angled or straight eyepiece position.

Due to the ED glass used on the lenses and improved manufacturing, they are offering a brilliantly clear picture, high resolution, and good contrast ratio. HD (High Density) stands for extra-low dispersion glass for edge-to-edge sharpness. On the lenses, there are XR coatings for increased light transmission. The scopes are O-ring sealed and filled with argon for maximum water and fog resistance. The lenses are protected against dirt, oil and other damage with a special additional coating. New, 2018 models offer even better optical performance, upgraded optical system and wider field of view. The price for 15-45X65 will be around 700 EUR and for 20-60x85 approximately 900 EUR.
