About Vortex
Vortex is a big-time optical manufacturer that hails from Wisconsin, USA, and is operated by a veteran staff of engineers with over 30 years of experience and marketing pros. Nowadays the brand is synonymous with feature-rich optics at competitive prices and a VIP warranty business model that completely changed the game. This year, the company has expanded its catalog to include the Vortex Razor LHT HD 4.5-22×50 FFP scope, its newest long-range specialist for mountain and open country hunters and tactical shooters.
Lightweight Scope in Heavy Competition
Sporting the typical sleek design of Vortex optics, this model is especially rugged and shock-resistant. It weighs about 615 grams (21.7 oz.), which makes it one of the lightest models in the category of long-range riflescopes. The sturdy single-piece aluminum tube has a diameter of 30 millimeters, so finding the right mounting solution won’t be a problem. The insides are purged with dry Argon gas and the housing is sealed with O-rings, ensuring that there is no risk of internal moisture. Flip-up lens caps are made to fit on the scope with and without a sunshade installed. There is also the push-button illumination that helps the hunter maintain an accurate point of aim when the ambient light is scarce.

As far as W&E turrets are concerned, there are two options available. Users can choose between MOA scope with typical capped hunting turrets and the MRAD variant with tall exposed ones and audible click mechanism you can rely on for fast distance correction. The maximum adjustment possible is 75 MOA / 22.4 MRAD. The elevation turret is lockable, which enables an easy return to zero and prevents hunters from making accidental adjustments in the field. Note that with the RevStop Zero ring installed, the adjustment range of the turret is cut down to 29 MOA / 11.5 MRAD.

True Colors and Longer Range
The scope belongs in the premium class of Vortex products. The apochromatic lenses of Razor LHT scopes reduce chromatic aberration better than the more common achromat lenses. All lens surfaces are laser-cut from high-density glass and multi-coated with protective varnishes. Vortex XR Plus lens coating enhances color fidelity, giving true-to-life images in rich detail with improved depth perception. The final scratch-resistant coating on the exterior lens protects these glass surfaces from mild abrasions, dirt and oil particles.

The XLR-2 reticle was designed with tactical, long-range shooters and open country hunters in mind.
It’s located in the first focal plane and is available in MOA and MRAD variations.
The super-fine center dot is perfect for establishing zero on longer distances. The tree-shaped holdover lines are intuitive enough to rely on when adjusting for wind and elevation.
The reticle design is etched into the glass, so the lines can be spaced to the tightest tolerances possible. The glass-etching technique also ensures that the reticle won’t lose shape or fade away with years of use, no matter what.
Thanks to the generous magnification range, users will be able to get a good shoot on various distances, including beyond 1000 meters.
The scope is suitable for hunting in the dusk, which is when the illuminated center dot will be most useful.
