Swarovski‘s launch of the dS riflescope four years ago was a step towards the future of the riflescope market. Even those who are not particularly experienced in the field of long-range hunting can successfully drop a shot at a distance they have not shot at before, which can be attributed to the sophisticated ballistics calculator and the technology associated with it. Shot Show did not take place in 2021, so Swarovski held an online presentation where they introduced three new products. One of them is the second generation of dS which incorporates some handy upgrades. Source: Swarovski Optik

Customizable display
The biggest upgrade has to do with the display – now you can customize it to your personal preferences and to different hunting situations. There are various silhouettes (additions to the reticle) at disposal, you can choose to see the wind bars or not, you can turn on the alignment indicator, etc. On the left side of the display, you can choose to have up to three pieces of information displayed. Select among wind speed, bullet velocity, flight time, and knock down power.
Slimmer look
Swarovski made changes to the battery turret, giving the dS 5–25×52 a somewhat slimmer look. The gap between the magnification ring and the turrets is now bigger, making the handling of the riflescope better. They have stuck with the 40 mm tube, though. It is still a large, heavy riflescope, which can be attributed to the electronics within.
Other features
Optically, this riflescope is completely the same as the first-generation model. It also works in pair with the same smartphone app, and the software found in the scope is basically the same, except for the upgrades mentioned above. dS gen II can still be ordered with the Swarovski SR rail underneath. Many dS gen I owners might be asking themselves whether an upgrade of software is possible. Unfortunately, it is not as the second-generation model uses a different display.
The riflescope is covered by a 10-year warranty period, except for the electronics which are covered for 2 years.
Conclusion
dS 5-25×52 remains the most advanced digital riflescope for the civilian market. Swarovski listened to their dealers and customers’ wishes, coming up with useful upgrades. It is going to hit the market at the end of March 2021. The retail price is the same as that of the first generation – 4370 €.
