Sightron Introduces the S6 1-6×24 Riflescopes

One Scope, Two Applications

Our team recently had the opportunity to visit the Sightron booth at this year’s IWA 2023, and we looked forward to checking out their new line of products. Among the novelties, the company introduced the S6 1-6×24 line of riflescopes and presented two editions of the same device, one in a 30 mm tube configuration and the other in a 34 mm tube configuration. By introducing the devices, Sightron turned a new leaf and expanded their offer as these are the first wide-angle devices in their product lineup. In this article, we will take a quick overview of what they have brought to the table with the new devices and see if they live up to the expectations.

The Sightron S6 1-6×24 line consists of two models that users can choose from, both of which look very much alike and will likely be at home for short to mid-range shooting.

Technical Properties of Sightron S6 1-6×24 SFP

The 30mm Sightron S6 1-6×24 SFP is made for the hunting segment and is equipped with the IR4A reticle in the second focal plane.

Technical Properties of Sightron S6 1-6×24 FFP

The 34mm Sightron S6 1-6×24 FFP is designed for target tactical shooting and features the LRT reticle in a first-focal plane. The elevation and windage turrets can be reset to zero and have 35-MIL adjustments.

Both scopes feature an illumination dial located on the left side, with 11 levels of intensity and an off-position between each setting, all in a low-profile design. The wide windage and elevation turrets are easy to adjust and have low-profile caps. Using either scope with both eyes open is simple and results in a reasonably clear edge definition.

As expected, the Sightron S6 1-6×24 riflescope line features premium Japanese glass, which most active users are already familiar with. Both scopes are waterproof and fog-proof which is ensured by O-ring sealing and nitrogen gas purging. The throw lever allows for quick and easy magnification adjustments, while the lightweight aircraft aluminum tubes make the devices lightweight and durable.

Final Thoughts

Up until this point, Sightron was predominantly focused on long range tactical and sport shooting riflescopes, and their entry into the wide-angle scope market seems to lack some of the specific purpose or target audience.

One thing that Sightron might consider improving in future versions is the field of view which comes only at 35.33 m/100 m with the current devices. The capped turrets will most likely not cover it with the tactical shooters, therefore the real tactical turrets with a turn indicator, zero stop, and locking function would all be a welcome addition for the FFP versions. On a positive note, the S6 1-6×24 series offers good optical performance and follows market trends, securing its position in the industry.

The SFP version is priced at approximately 1639 €, while the FFP version retails for around 1999 €. It is good to see that Sightron is expanding its product line, however, the price point may be on the high end considering the device’s characteristics. Furthermore, it may be challenging to compete in a market that is already strong in the tactical segment, with well-established brands such as Kahles, IOR, or Sig Sauer. Despite that, we appreciate Sightron’s efforts to expand their offer, and we look forward to seeing what they come up with next.
