Thermion 2 LRF XP50 PRO Review
Pulsar Thermion 2 LRF XP50 PRO thermal riflescope is the newest release that has people buzzing with excitement. The incorporation of an LRF into a thermal riflescope is a fresh idea and many brands like Hikmicro and PARD were quick to present their results. Pulsar wants to give you all: recoil resistance of classic riflescopes combined with advanced gadgetry of modern optics. Let’s see how Thermion 2 LRF XP50 PRO makes it all work.
Pulsar Thermion Series
- lightweight aluminum alloy → only 0.97kg (34 ounces)
- 30mm tube
- adverse field conditions:
- IPХ7 rating
- seamless operation from -25°С to +50°С
- withstands hard recoil → 6000 Joules
Thermion is Pulsar’s flagship line of thermal riflescopes. The robust all-metal construction and IPX7 waterproof rating guarantee these devices can take on any challenge. Hailstorms, heavy snow, and fog can do no damage.
Mounting thermal imaging riflescope on weapons
You can mount Thermion 2 LRF XP50 PRO on nearly all weapons – be it .375 H&H Mag, 12-gauge shotgun, 9.3×64 rifle; or even a pneumatic. Spoiled for choice, users can also save up to 5 individual shooting profiles / 50 zeroing distances.
The scope comes with 10+ preloaded reticles and functions (direct shot type, ballistic, scalable and regular). This meticulous attention to detail is a recurring theme with the Thermion line.
- capable <25mK sensor → differentiates between lowest thermal contrasts
- 640x480px sensor resolution
- smooth, fluid image → 50Hz frame rate
Pulsar stays ahead of the curve with a <25mK thermal imaging sensor. Top-of-the-line 640x480px vanadium core and image boost technology make for a flawless image with the smallest details. Every blade of grass, shallow puddle and a twist of droptine antlers are outlined in sharp contrast.
But it’s not just the sensor sensitivity and fancy software algorithms that are in charge of Thermion 2 LRF XP50 PRO’s impressive object identification capabilities. The fast aperture (F50/1.0) lens also does its share here.
Extra Mile with LRF
- seamlessly built-in LRF
- detection range:
- LRF → 800 meters
- thermal sensor → 1800 meters
- responsible hunting, day and night
While on the subject of the most informative imaging possible, the incorporated LRF gives accurate distance readings under any hunting conditions. Thermion thermal imaging device can measure up to 800 meters. Paired with the thermal detection range (1800 meters), Pulsar Thermion 2 LRF thermal imaginig XP50 PRO gives hunters unprecedented reliability that every shot will hit the mark. The downside of the LRF is that it makes Pulsar Thermion 2 LRF XP50 PRO thermal imaging riflescope rather front-heavy.
No Keyhole Effect
- 1024×768 AMOLED display
- wide-angle eyepiece
- 2x-16x magnification
- 8 display color modes
Many thermal imaging riflescopes are notorious for the wafer-thin image but that’s never the case with Pulsar. The wide viewing angle of Thermion 2 LRF XP50 PRO’s AMOLED screen ensures that no matter the magnification, there is no tunnel vision. What’s more, the comfortable 29.5° eyepiece with 50mm eye relief means that you won’t have to restrict all head movement to get a clear viewing.
Since this Pulsar scope is suitable for shooting from greater distances, the variable magnification from 2x to 16x only makes sense. What’s really nifty is that the user can increase the zoom by 2x steps or in a smooth, continuous glide-through.
- 10 hours of uninterrupted observation
- integrated battery
- removable, rechargeable APS3
Pulsar Thermion 2 LRF XP50 PRO thermal imaging is ideal for long, worry-free observations as it runs on 2 energy sources. The first one is a built-in 4900 mAh battery. The second is a removable and rechargeable Pulsar APS3, which can be used on several Pulsar thermal imaging devices (Axion, Digex, Proton, etc.). A single battery charge will give you roughly 10 hours of use.
