Battery life: 5:04 hours
With Pulsar Axion Key XM22, the manufacturer states that the battery life is 4 hours at 22°C. When testing the device, we found out that it's actually longer - the battery lasted for 5 hours and 4 minutes.
As you can see in the video, we tested the device at 22.2 – 23.7°C, which is similar to the temperature the manufacturer provides along with the battery life and is usually used for testing.
Do keep in mind that while testing, we didn't press any buttons or use any functions, but that's usually not the case when using the device on the field. Using different functions (such as video recording, changing color modes, Wi-Fi, etc.) usually affects the battery, so we can expect that the battery life will be a little shorter in real-life situations.
For the Pulsar Axion Key XM22, we used the Li-Ion Battery Pack АPS 3 Pulsar battery that is included in the box. Another good feature of this device is that you can either charge it with the type-C charger, or you can take out the battery and charge the battery itself with the Pulsar battery charger.
Pulsar produces multiple APS batteries: APS2, APS3, and APS5. Axion XM devices however are only compatible with APS3 batteries, so make sure you only use those. As these batteries are removeable, the user has the option of having multiple batteries that can be switched while on the field in case one runs out. In case the battery breaks, it's also easier to replace it, as you can do it yourself and don't have to call the service.
Pulsar Axion Key XM22 also has a Standby option, which is a remarkably useful battery-saving feature. With a short press of the on/off button, the screen turns off and the device enters Standby mode. To use the device again, you simply press the on/off button, and the display appears immediately. The device is also instantly responsive to the users’ actions.
