On 2 January 2024, Pulsar announced the release of two firmware updates for their Trail 2 LRF XP50 models and all Thermion 2 LRF devices. Here is everything you need to know.
Pulsar Trail 2 LRF XP50 Update
Since many users around the globe rely on their Trail 2 LRF XP50 as their daily device of choice, Pulsar decided to release the 5.0 update which enables ballistic calculations on these devices. The update will allow users to use the ballistic calculations for accurate long-distance shooting. Just like on Thermion 2 riflescopes, they will be able to pair the Trail 2 LRF XP50 with the new Stream Vision Ballistic mobile application.
The latest 5.0 firmware update brings with it a ballistic algorithm that allows for calculating the trajectory of a bullet and displays the suggested point of aim on the screen of the device. In addition, Pulsar has also announced that their engineers are developing a similar firmware update for Trail 2 LRF XQ50 device which should be available somewhere in the first half of 2024.
To enable ballistic calculation on the Trail riflescope, the newest updated version of the Stream Vision Ballistics mobile application must be downloaded to the mobile device. After installation, a ballistic profile (or multiple profiles) should be created using the in-app instructions. The scope can then be connected with the Stream Vision Ballistics app via Bluetooth and using the application, ballistic profiles can be uploaded to the riflescope. Two button presses measure and activate ballistic calculations. The first short press activates the LRF, while the second measures the distance and displays the suggested point of aim on the riflescope’s display.
Thermion 2 LRF Ballistic Calculations Update
In addition to the Trail 2 LRF XP50 update announcement, Pulsar has also released firmware update 3.2.0, bringing noticeable improvements to the ballistic calculation capabilities of its Thermion 2 LRF riflescopes.
The update improves remote-control panel handling for more intuitive operation, allows for customizable SPOA symbols, variable SPOA colors, multiple distance visualization options, adjustable correction display time, extended rangefinder widget display time, continuous ballistic calculations during target tracking, detailed profile names, integration of RA4 ballistic profile, and updated autocalibration indication.
The Stream Vision Ballistics mobile application can now be paired with the following Pulsar scopes:
- Thermion 2 LRF XL50
- Thermion 2 LRF XP50 Pro
- Thermion 2 LRF XQ50 Pro
- Thermion 2 LRF XG50
- Trail 2 LRF XP50
