Welcome to Optics Trade debates. In each episode, we talk about a different topic and try to answer the most common questions we receive about it. Today, we are going to discuss Aimpoint Micro red dots.
The basic difference between Aimpoint red dots H-1 and H-2 is that H-1 is the newer model and H-2 is the older model.
There is a difference in flip covers. As the ones on H-2 are really well made, they always stay on the red dot itself. On H-1, there are classic bikini covers which can easily get lost and are not so comfortable for use.
The second difference is in the elevation turret which is on the top, protected by the housing. This way, no bumps or hits can damage the turret. On the older model, one of the most common problems was that the elevation turret got damaged during the use of the product.
In the length of the two products, there is a negligible difference. The covers from H-1 can be used on the H-2 model, but you cannot use the covers from the H-2 on the H-1 model. Both red dots are almost superb, so it is really hard to notice a difference in the dot definition.
We believe that both models are the best red dots you can buy for hunting.
Both red dots come with the Weaver/Picatinny mount, but there are also other possibilities of mounting them on different platforms. The after-market producers are offering a lot of other solutions for these two dots. They both have the same platform and dimensions. All the mounting solutions which were suitable for H-1 are also suitable for H-2 and can be mounted basically everywhere.
