Introduction
Nightforce is a well-known manufacturer of riflescopes. They utilize the latest technologies available at their disposal to produce rigorously tested, optically advanced products. During my visit to Shot Show 2019, I stopped at their booth to see what they have in store for 2019.
An SFP version of ATACR 7–35×56
ATACR 7–35×56 is a highly popular tactical riflescope, that was up to now only available with the reticle in the FFP. It is optically amazing, partly because of the ED glass used, and extremely robust, capable of withstanding rough, harsh treatment (on many videos on Youtube, Nightforce riflescopes have been put to the test and passed it with success).
Many tactical shooters who shoot at long range distances were big fans of 7–35×56 ATACR. Up to now, it has only been available with the FFP configuration, which some shooters adore and others dislike. The SFP configuration is especially useful for those who are into sports shooting at targets on long distances (in cases as such, an FFP reticle might cover too much of the target at high magnification, making it impossible to execute an accurate shot).
To satisfy the demands of everybody, Nightforce has now announced a launch of the very same riflescope but with an SFP reticle configuration. It features the same 34mm tube, has 100 MOA/29 MRAD of elevation adjustment, 60 MOA/17 MRAD of windage adjustment, is extremely robust and provides excellent optical quality. There are two reticles available for now: MOAR-T™ and MIL-C™, both designed by Nightforce. DigIllum™ technology and ZeroStop™ are standard. The riflescope will retail for 3600 $ in the US.
ATACR 16x, 25x and 35x FFP new illuminated MIL-XT™ reticle
Nightforce has also presented a new MIL-XT reticle, that will be available for the following ATACR FFP riflescopes: 4–16×42, 5–25×56, and 7–35×56. The reticle is designed for precision rifle competitions. The use of hold-over points is very intuitive and allows for fast corrections. The main lines feature .2 Mil-radian holds; each whole Mil-Radian is also included. All in all, the new MIL-XT™ is great for range estimation and fast/accurate shot placement.
Conclusion
In the world of premium riflescopes, Nightforce remains a force to be reckoned with. The FFP version of 7–35×56 has been very successful, and we believe that the SFP version will follow its example.
