Our Observations
With Kahles Helia TI 35, the user has to long-press the on/off button for 4 seconds until the manufacturer’s logo appears. After the logo disappears, the image appears, and the Startup timer stops – at approximately 7.11 seconds. At that time, the device is still unresponsive to the users’ actions, therefore a zoom button is used to determine when the device is ready to be used. After some time, the battery icon appears and soon after, the device is ready to be used. As soon as it responds to the press of a zoom button, the second timer stops – at approximately 28.55 seconds.
We were pressing the zoom button to accurately portray the ready-to-use time. The number of times we pressed the zoom button does not matter; the ready-to-use time does not get any longer/shorter.
As the image appears quite quickly, it should be good for observing, but as the device doesn’t respond to users’ actions for almost half a minute, you’ll have to wait before zooming in or changing the color mode.
Kahles Helia TI 35 has an internal battery and can be charged with the type-C charger. As you cannot switch the batteries, make sure you check the battery status before heading out on the field.
This device only has two buttons, which is quite a surprising feature. It also has a classic Kahles design with the traditional brown and orange colors. It’s also what sets them apart from the other thermal monoculars, as most of them feature a black color, with some small details in red or blue.
The device is easy to handle, and the buttons are easy to press even if you are wearing gloves.
When turning the device off, you just simply hold the on/off button, until the image disappears.
Pulsar Kahles Helia TI 35 also has a Standby option, which is a very useful battery-saving feature, especially if you’re on the field for a longer period of time.
