Hello and welcome to another episode of Optics Trade Debates. Today, we’re here to talk about the HS506A model within the Tube series of Holosun red dot sights.
This is the only model in the Tube 506 family. At purchase, it already comes mounted with a 30-millimetre ring of the Cantilever type for a Picatinny platform.
This model is meant to be mounted on AR platforms and used in the dynamical shooting.
All Holosun red dot sights with the number ‘500’ in their name feature a special reticle. Classic models have the standard, 2 MOA dot. The ‘500’ series, on the other hand, offers a multi-reticle feature. That means that the user can switch between the standard 2 MOA dot and a circle dot (a 2 MOA dot with a 65 MOA circle around it) with a simple click of a button.
The reticle on this Tube model is also night vision compatible. When used at the lowest 2 intensity levels in combination with night vision goggles, it won’t create any discomfort.
There is also the ShakeAwake™ function. That means that the device will automatically switch from ‘active’ to ‘sleep’ mode after a longer period of zero movement. Once the user moves the device around, it will immediately be ready for use again and retain the chosen illumination intensity setting. This function prolongs the already impressive battery life (50,000 hours).
The model features flip-up caps and wired-down turrets. For now, the option of solar cells is not available with this Holosun product. But keep an eye out for the future since this company is known for making a plethora of model variants.
