It has not been long since Hikvision entered the field of thermal clip-ons and thermal riflescopes, but they are already competitive, proving that their knowledge of thermal technology is substantial. They have made impressive progress in a relatively short amount of time, releasing new products regularly. In a desire to separate the products designed for hunting and shooting from their other gadgets, they have created a new brand within the company Hikvision – Hikmicro.

Sensor Properties on TQ50 and TQ50C
The first thing that attracted our attention was the sensor resolution of 640 x 512 pixels – only the best thermal devices in the field of sports optics are equipped with a sensor so sophisticated. With an NETD of < 35 mK, the user can detect minimal temperature differences while observing, which is especially useful in rain or fog. The combination of the sensor and quality 1024 x 768 OLED display ensures impressive detail recognition.
The user can choose from four colour modes on Hikmicro Thunder PRO devices TQ50 and TQ50c:
- Black hot
- White hot
- Red hot
- Fusion

Battery life on TQ50 and TQ50C
Both TQ50 and TQ50c thermal devices are powered by two CR123A batteries which last up to four hours.
Recording Properties
On both Hikmicro Thunder PRO thermal optics user can:
- capture images
- record videos
- connect these devices to a smartphone app.
The capacity of the built-in memory is 16 GB. Hikmicro Thunder PRO TQ50 has a base magnification of 2.6x, while TQ50c has a 1x magnification (you set the magnification with the rifle scope that the ‘TQ50c’ model is fixed to).

Conclusion
If you are into sophisticated, high-quality thermal devices, you probably already have the Hikmicro brand on your radar. Both Thunder TQ50 models are exceptional and worth a look, but you will have to dig deep in your pocket to get one (the thermal rifle scope costs around 4400 € while the price for the thermal clip-on has not yet been revealed) – nothing unusual for a device with such impressive optical characteristics. In the future, we would love to see the thermal rifle scope model available with an integrated laser rangefinder.
