Our Observations
With Hikmicro Thunder TH35C, the manufacturer states that the battery life is 4.5 hours at 25°C with the hotspot function off (4 hours with the hotspot on). We tested the device, and our measured time was 4:51 hours.
As you can see in the video, we tested the device at 23.1 – 23.9°C, which is similar to the temperature the manufacturer provides along with the battery life and is usually used for testing.
Do keep in mind that while testing, we didn’t press any buttons or use any functions, but that’s usually not the case when using the device on the field. Using different functions (such as video recording, changing color modes, Wi-Fi, etc.) usually affects the battery, so we can expect that the battery life will be a little shorter in real-life situations.
We tested the device with the default settings, as it comes out of the box, but we did change one thing. Hikmicro Thunder TH35C has an automatic standby mode, in which it enters if we don’t press any buttons. You can set the time after which it enters this mode, or turn this function off completely, which we did for this testing.
For the Hikmicro Thunder TH35C thermal device, you need 2 CR123A or RCR123A (rechargeable) batteries. The device supports 3V and 3,7V batteries. We used the Panasonic CR123, 3V batteries. Please note that the results might vary if you use different ones.
To turn the device off, the user must hold the power button until the device turns off.
If the device enters Standby mode and you wish to use it again, you simply press the on/off button, and all features are available immediately.
