Guide TR Thermal Riflescopes

Guide expands its offer of thermal riflescopes

At the IWA 2023, we paid a visit to Guide’s booth to check if they had any new products for the year. In addition to expanding their TD series, Guide presented a promising new series of thermal riflescopes – TR.

There are 3 models in the series, catering to various needs and preferences: TR420, TR430, and TR450. Each model is differentiated by its lens diameter—25 mm for the TR420, 35 mm for the TR430, and 50 mm for the TR450. The differences in lens diameter result in differences in the base optical magnification and field of view; the users can select a model tailored to their specific requirements.

Focusing on the established form

Last year, Guide unveiled thermal riflescopes that featured a design similar to conventional riflescopes, launched as part of the TU series. This year, they have decided to focus on the development of riflescopes with a more time-tested form factor in the thermal industry; we like to call such devices ‘box-shaped thermal riflescopes’ because of the way they look. Even though some companies have begun discontinuing these devices in preference for thermal riflescopes that resemble traditional hunting riflescopes, there is still a market for them.

Sturdy and robust

The TR series riflescopes offer durability for various conditions. They withstand temperatures from -30 to 50 degrees Celsius and are waterproof for use in rain. Additionally, they feature a compact, robust body, which makes them suitable for use with hard-kicking rifles.

Image full of details

These riflescopes feature a 640×512 pixel sensor with a 12 μm pixel pitch and an OLED display with a resolution of 1024×768 pixels. The combination of these specifications delivers a quality image with an abundance of visible details, ensuring accurate target identification.

Versatility at its best

The TR series models provide the ability to mount a laser compartment on their Picatinny rail as an accessory; In the future, Guide intends to implement this feature in the TD series as well. This allows users to select the ideal device to suit their specific needs and preferences; it also gives the option to upgrade the device in the future if necessary. Users can choose from 10 reticles, allowing for customization to accommodate different hunting scenarios. Another appealing feature is the interchangeable 18650 battery, enabling users to carry a spare battery and quickly swap it out during a hunt if the current one runs out of power. A single battery provides up to 5 hours of battery life.

Expectations for the future

At this time, we have not received information regarding the release date or pricing of the TR series. However, based on the features and specifications, we can estimate that the cost may range between 4000 € and 5000 €, depending on the specific model and the inclusion of accessories such as the LRF compartment. Please note that these are only approximate figures, and the actual prices may vary upon release.
