Guide TD Series with a Laser Rangefinder

Guide is expanding their TD series

During our visit to IWA 2023 in Nuremberg, we were keen to check out Guide’s newest products at their booth. We found out that Guide intends to expand its TD series of models starting with the number ‘4’. Up to now, TD410, TD420, and TD430 have been available for purchase. Soon, an LRF counterpart will be introduced for each of the mentioned models, meaning that there are going to be 6 models starting with ‘4’ available altogether. Guide also revealed plans to introduce a removable LRF compartment in the future. Continue reading to learn more.

Affordable and practical

These thermal imaging devices are all equipped with a 400×300 pixel sensor but differ in lens diameter. TD410 features a 19 mm lens, TD420 a 25 mm lens, and TD430 a 35 mm lens – this contributes to the differences in base magnification and field of view. They are lightweight and compact. TD series models are powered by a 18650 battery which can be removed and changed within seconds.

The benefits of the LRF compartment

A laser rangefinder can be a helpful addition to thermal devices – knowing the distance to the game allows for better shot placement, reducing the possibility of grazing the animal. We noticed that more and more thermal imaging manufacturers are offering LRF compartments in their affordable devices and are glad that Guide is following this trend. Guide’s new LRF models in the TD series are going to be slightly more expensive than their non-LRF counterparts, but we have not been informed about the actual price yet. As of now, there is no official name assigned, but we assume that Guide will add ‘LRF’ next to the name of the device. The range of the laser beam is 600 m, which is more than enough for hunting. Apart from the LRF compartment, the new models are not going to feature any other updates.

TD series and the future

Looking ahead to the future of the TD series, Guide has revealed plans to introduce a removable LRF compartment which would be available as an accessory. This is an exciting piece of news as it will give buyers even more flexibility and options when it comes to customizing their thermal imaging devices. For example, someone may opt to purchase the standard option initially and then upgrade to the LRF compartment at a later time if they feel they need it. We think that this idea is great and anticipate that other manufacturers may follow suit in the future, as it provides a practical way to upgrade thermal devices.
